Role Playing Game (RPG)

Role Playing Games are not like board or card games that most people are familiar with. Instead of being competitive, they tend to be more co-operative, where the players (usually) work together towards some goal. They can also be thought of as interactive story telling, as they generally operate on the principle of each "player" taking on the role of a "character" or "protagonist" in a story. Each player decides how their character reacts to what is going on around them, with the actual results of those actions/reactions being decided based on a set of rules and usually some sort of randomizer (usually dice). Unlike board games where each player has a piece that represents them, in Role Playing Games, each player's character takes time to develop and often times will develop and improve in what they can do and accomplish (as Role Playing Games also promote character growth and development).
