Shadows of Humanity: the Everlasting RPG
The Paths of Magick

Yes, it is spelled with a "K" here, as that is how it is spelled within The Everlasting books. Steven Borwn used this spelling to diferentiate it from the way that magic is handled in most fantasy RPG's, where you learn a spell with pre-determined effects and suddenly you can use it. Whereas in the Everlasting, Magick is incredibly flexible and will vary in its effects from one user to the next.

Magick within the Everlasting is a widely varying concept. It includes such classes (complexities) as Spontaneous Magick, Spell Magick, and Ritual Magick; as well as different "schools" of magic, such as Celestial Engineering (magical path used by Angels), Sanguimancy (also known as Blood Magic, the magickal path utilized by the Bathoran Vampires), Moerisia (Wer Witchcraft, the magickal path used by many of the wer-creatures or Lycanthropes, it is a dark from of Nature Magick), Chantway (the magickal path used by Manitou to call on the spirits of nature for aid), or Dekan (or "Alexandrian Magick, one of the many magickal paths used by Daevas (in this case primarily used by the Dekan Household of Daevas)).

More information will be added to this page over time. As I am able to spare the time, I will be adding information on each "Path" of magic that is available within this game. The following is a sample list of the Magickal Paths available.

Alien Technologies- these can not easily be described in human terms due to the very (alien) nature of the forms of Magick that the Abominations use. Also due to the fact that Abominations are not allowed as characters or Protagonists no detailed information will be provded on this subject, as Protagonists will need to learn how to best counter or deal with this as they deal with these vile creatures.

Celestial Engineering of the Angels- This involves the use of singing, dancing, prayer, musical instruments, words of power or gestured symbols of power, chanting, and many other activities to create the desired effects by altering reality on the local level. However their powers tend to be greatly reduced (although still very powerful) when on the earth. In fact their use of celestial engineering (altering the very reality of their immediate vicinity) can have dire consequences by altering the universe in minor but far reaching ways. Thus they become less connected with the divine by overusing their powers, and can actually start to fall from grace in the process.
